Section Two (30 marks)
Begin your answer on a fresh page.
You are advised to write between 180 and 250 words for this section.
You should read the information carefully and plan your answer before beginning to write.
Your school is celebrating its 50th anniversary, and your class is in charge of compiling the history of your school for the 50th Anniversary Magazine. Your teacher has asked you to organise a meeting at the school with some of the former students, so that your class can talk to them about their memories of life in school and gather other relevant information.
Write a letter inviting former students to meet members of your class. In your letter you must include:
• An explanation of the class project
• The date and the time of the meeting
• The kind of information you are interested in
• A request for other useful material – for example, photographs
• Why it is worthwhile contributing to the project.
You should begin your letter with “Dear Former Student,” and write in a friendly and persuasive tone. Remember to provide a suitable ending, including a request to respond within an appropriate period.
