Informal Letter - Australian Penpals' Visit to Singapore

Writing another Informal Letter

Your pen pal from Australia would like to visit Singapore. He and his two older sisters hope to have a free and easy time in Singapore with you as their guide. However, in order to save on costs, they have asked you to help them arrange their accommodation while they are here for two weeks. They hope that you can help them narrow down their choices of where to stay.

After some internet searches, you have come up with four potential places to stay. However, you feel that one of them is the best choice. Write to your pen pal telling him of the available choices and which one you think is the most suitable.

Metropolitan Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) at Stevens Road

This well-known organization has standard rooms with the usual facilities for triple sharing at $165++ inclusive of a buffet breakfast. However, there are dorm beds for backpackers at $45++ per bunk with shared toilet facilities. It is five bus stops from Far East Plaza in Orchard Road.

Hotel 51 at Bencoolen Street

This well-known chain of hotels has standard room facilities and a triple sharing room costs $179 inclusive of taxes. Located opposite the 24-hour Kopitiam, it is conveniently located near the Museum belt. Dhoby Ghaut MRT station is five minutes away by foot.

The InnCrowd Hostel Singapore at Dunlop Street off Little India

A favourite among foreign backpackers, this inn has dorm beds at $20 or a triple bed dorm room at $79 per person inclusive of a locker and local breakfast. Nearby MRT stations are Bugis and Little India which are eight minutes away.

Scented Hotel at Kovan off Upper Serangoon Road

A no-frills hotel, rooms come in one size with a queen size bed, the rate is only $99 a room inclusive of taxes. It is located two bus stops from Serangoon MRT station.

Your pen pal and his sisters are interested in visiting some places of interest and tourist attractions. However, they are mainly interested in bargain shopping. Based on their time frame, budget and interests, suggest which accommodation best suits the family.

Set out your letter correctly in clear, accurate English and use an appropriate tone. You should include any other information which you think would be helpful.
