Your school has just staged a play entitled “Teen Angels” at the Stamford Theatre. The production celebrates the work of teenagers who spend their time helping the community and aims to raise funds for needy students in the neighbourhood. As editor of the school newsletter, you attended the play and gathered responses to it. The following are excerpts of some reactions from the staff, audience and cast members whom you interviewed.
Alan Lee /Lead Actor
I found the play very meaningful and am very proud to have been part of it. It really has shown me that teenagers can make a difference to the lives of other students.
Julia Mah / Teacher-Director
The students really worked hard. Since the subject of community service is very real for them, I feel that it made a difference to their acting.
Ashwin Pereira / Stage Crew
We have had practices almost every weekend since March – I “burned” all my weekends but it was worth it at the end when I heard the appreciative applause from the audience. We really brought the house down.
Md Farhan / Member of the Audience
I was touched by the portrayal of the needy pupils and how the caring students responded to their needs. Let’s hope our young people are really like that in real life!
Loh Kian Beng/ Principal
I am really very proud of what the students have done. Not only have they delivered an important social message, they have also raised $2500 for the community Student Pocket Money Fund through the ticket sales. It was really a whole school effort.
