Section One [30 marks]
You are advised to write between 250 and 400 words on ONE of the following topics.
At the head of your composition write the number of the topic you have chosen.

1.  Write about some of the things which make you feel proud of your country. 

2.  What advice would you give to a friend who finds school work difficult and who is feeling very worried?

3.  Explain why a tourist would find Singapore River an interesting area to visit. 

4.  "I knew I was doing the right thing."  Write about what happened when someone had to make a difficult decision which pleased some people and upset others.

5.  What makes a good parent?

6. Write about the kind of music you like and explain why you find it enjoyable. 

Section Two (30 marks)

You are advised to write between 180 and 250 words for this section.
You should read the information carefully and plan your answer before beginning to write.

Yesterday, as you were walking to school, you saw a car go out of control.  It was driven by a learner driver, accompanied by an instructor.  The car crashed into a stall by the roadside.  The stall overturned, injuring the stallholder and his daughter. 

The Police have asked you to write a report on exactly what you saw. 

Your report must include the following details: 

• where and when the accident happened
• what road conditions were like at the time
• a brief description of the car and the driver
• what injuries were caused
• what other damage there was. 

Your report must be a clearly expressed, factual account and you should include any further information whcih you think would be helpful.  Remember to give your report a heading.
