Topic: SMOKING
Summary of the essay I am going to write:
Drafting my introduction (which is my 1st para)- To give a BIG idea of my essay. Smoking was my biggest mistake. My first puff - when I was in Primary Six. Curiosity > Habit > became a terrible secret because I was then only twelve years old. Inner struggle = There was no way I could turn around to undo my mistake.
Working out a draft for MAIN BODY PARAGRAPH 1 (which is my 2nd para)
I discovered: Smoking once started very difficult to quit.
I did not have money to support this expensive habit.
Also very hard to buy cigarettes because I was under 21 years old
One thing led on to another > smoking changed me > made me steal to pay for cigarettes > got caught > embarrassed my parents, friends, teachers...
Working out a draft for MAIN BODY PARAGRAPH 2 (which is my 3rd para)
A senior schoolmate introduced me to smoking. Experience: very comforting / made me feel as though I was in heaven. I felt very light / all the worries left me. Everything seemed well at the start. Only thing I did not know was the nightmare whihc had started to unfold.
Working out a draft for PARAGRAPH 3 (which is my 4th para)
pocket money - not enough for cigarettes.
No. of sticks went up to about one box per day.
Secret getting increasingly hard to keep.
Teacher get suspicious.
Warning: Habit > cannot be kicked away.
Working out a draft for Paragraph 4 (which is my 5th para)
Father caught me redhanded when spotchecked cigarettes in my schoolbag.
Severe scolding / threatened to cane me. Tightened pocket money further. I began to feel uneasy and restless w/o cigarettes. Since no money > entered 7-11 store and stole. No way to turn around.
Working out a draft for Paragraph 5(which is my CONCLUSION)
Caught by manager of teh convenience store for shoplifting.
Handed over to police.
Mother + Father very upset.
School Disciplinary Committee was informed.
Branded as Problem Student
Realised must change by kicking smoking altogether.
