Your co-curricular group in school has plans for an overseas field trip to The Philippines. However, the cost of the trip surpasses what many of your members can afford. As such, your CCA group has decided to do some fund-raising to offset the cost of the overseas trip.
The following are some of the more popular ideas put forward by your CCA members.
JUMBLE SALE
- From 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on a Saturday morning
- Invite staff and pupils to donate unwanted items
- entrepreneurial experience in managing the items and doing pricing
- need for storage facilities
CAR WASH / POLISH
- From 2:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on a Friday afternoon
- Some members have experience in washing and polishing cars
- Extended school opening hours
- Distribute flyers to all staff and students, to encourage parents to participate
SALE OF DIY ITEMS
- From 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. every afternoon for a week
- Sale of bookmarks, posters, fridge magnets and other self-made novelty items
- Initial investment of $500, to be returned from profits
- Display creativity and business sense
As the Head of your co-curricular group, write a letter of proposal to the Principal, outlining the need for and nature of the fund-raising event. You are required to present not only the positive aspects, but also the solutions to the possible problems that may arise as a result of organising such an event in the school.
Write your letter using an informative and persuasive tone, which will convince the Principal to show support for your fund-raising event.
