Letter of Proposal - Graduation Night for Students

The Parents' Support Group (PSG) in your school is organising the Graduation Night for the Secondary Four Express and Secondary Five pupils.  The PSG has identified three venues where the Graduation Night can be held.  The main objectives of this event are to give the graduating pupils a memorable farewell and to show appreciation fo their contributions to the school. 

You are the Chairperson of the Students' Welfare Committee (SWC).  The Chairperson of hte PSG has tasked the SWC to select the most appropriate venue to hodl this fun-filled event.  The SWC conducted a survey among the graduating pupils, seeking their opinions.  With the results of the survey, you held a meeting with the members of the SWC to make a decision.  Now you are to write a proposal to the PSG, justifying the choice made by the SWC. 

The three venues chosen by PSG:

The Rose Petals Hotel

• 5-star hotel
• located at Orchard Road shopping belt
• cost - $88 per head
• use of ballroom from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
• maximum 20 tables
• buffet-style Chinese and Halal dinner
• free flow of soft drinks
• attractive door gifts

The Magnum Country Club

• renowned for its ambience and food
• located at Pasir Ris, a holiday resort
• cost - $52 per head
• use of ballroom from 2:00 p.m. to 12:00 p.m.
• maximum 30 tables
• 10-course Chinese dinner
• Halal food will be served at Muslim tables
• Each table gets one free photograph taken

Palm Leaves Fine Dining

• one of the most posh restaurants in Singapore
• located at Dempsey Hill - city area
• cost - $46 per head
• use of restaurant from 3:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.
• maximum 25 tables
• buffet-style Chinese, Western and Halal dinner
• each table entitled to 1 barrel of soft drinks
• free deejay and song requests

Decide which place you think is the best.

Write a letter of proposal for the PSG, clearly stating the reasons for your choice.  Explain in detail why you think this will be the most appropriate place to hold the Graduation Night for the graduating pupils. 

Set your letter out correctly, in clear, accurate English, adn use a persuasive but polite tone which will convince the PSG that this is the best place for the graduating pupils to have their Graduation Night.
