Section Two (30 marks)
Begin your answer on a fresh page.
You are advised to write between 250 and 350 words for this section. You should read the information carefully and plan your answer before beginning to write.
As part of the Youth Olympic Games (YOG) campaign this year, your school has been asked to play host to a group of students from Costa Rica. You are one of the few chosen to entertain a small group of Costa Rican students of your age group. You have to entertain the guests, who will be in town just before the Games begin. It will also allow our guests to bring home a good image of Singapore after the Games.
After initial rounds of discussion, you and your schoolmates have come up with three suggestions on where to bring the guests to on that day.
Chinatown/ Little India / Kampong Glam
Our guests will be treated to a glimpse of the Chinese, Indian and Malay cultures of Singapore as well as to enjoy the traditional foods of our three races.
Sentosa / Universal World / Vivocity
Our guests will enjoy our new Sentosa, together with our very own Universal World theme park. A visit to our biggest mall will end the day with a high.
Jurong Bird Park / Singapore Zoological Gardens / Botanic Gardens
Our guests will be able to see Singapore from a different perspective
Write a speech in which you explain to your school which of the three suggestions you prefer and your reasons for your choice. Try to persuade them to support you and convince them that your choice is the suggestion that should be taken.
