Report - Community Involvement Programme

Another Report Writing
Your class is required to perform service learning under the Community Involvement Programme (CIP) in school, with an outside organisation.  The service learning would require you to spend time at the organisation, interact with the children and conduct a project to raise funds for hte organisation.  Your teacher has provided information on two organisations.  You and your classmates now have to decide which one to go to, based on the details given below:

Choice of Organisation 1 - Movement for the Intellectually Disabled of Singapore (MINDS)

  • Caters to the edcuational, vocational, social and welfare needs of the intellectually disabled in Singapore
  • Sessions held monthly on Saturdays from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.  at Towner Gardens School in Kembangan (eastern part of Singapore)
  • Interact with students who are autistic - have developmental and / or intellectual disorder
  • Funds raised will be used to upgrade and renovate teh current centre and to purchase more learning aids
Choice of Organisation 2 - Singapore Children's Society (SCS)

  • Helps protect and nurture children and youth of all races and religions, especially those who are abused, neglected, and / or from dysfunctional families
  • Sessions held fortnightly on Saturdays from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.  at the Family Service Centre in Yishun
  • Working with the Sunbeam Friends Club to bring fun and joy to children and youths through healthy, creative and constructive activities
  • Funds raised will beused to organise camps and enrichment programmes

As a class chairperson, gather feedback from your class and decide which organisation your class should go to.

Write a report to your Principal, informing him of the place you have chosen, giving the reasons for your choice.  Expalin in detail, why you believe that this is the better place for the class to perform service learning.
