Term 3 Week 2 7 July 2010 Situational Writing - SPEECH

Mr. Yeo cannot be with 4B today as well because this is DAY 2 of the N Level Oral Examinations.  For those people who have missed this lesson for one reason or other, please see intructions for this assignment below:

1127 Paper 1 Section 2
Situational Writing: Speech

You are advised to write between 250 and 350 words for this section. You should read the information carefully and plan your answer before beginning to write.

You have been selected to present a speech at the Tampines Regional Library Auditorium this Saturday, 10 July 2010 at 10:00 a.m. The title of your speech is “Why I am proud to be a Hildan (in your case)”. You are competing with schools from the East Zone for the Best Speaker Award. School principals, including your own, will be attending, together with competitors and supporters from all participating schools. Your class will be turning out in full force to listen to you.

In your speech, you must include the following highlights:
• Your growth and development as a Hildan
• Some of the memorable school activities you had participated
• Teachers or others who had inspired you in one way or other in school
• Achievements by your school which you are proud of
• One or two key defining moments which you think underscore the reasons for your pride
• Your hopes and aspirations for the school in your final year of study

and any other information which will make your speech interesting and refreshing to your audience. To win the competition, you will have to convince the judges that you are really proud to be a student of your school.

Set your speech in an appropriate tone using clear and presentable English, bearing in mind that apart from the abovementioned people, members of the public will also be present to listen to you.
