Section One (30 marks)
You are advised to write between 350 and 500 words on one of the following topics.  At the head of your composition, write the number of the topic you have chosen. 

1.  Write about an occasion when you did something and had made someone important to you proud of your actions. 

2.  Describe a day you spent in an unfamiliar environment.

3.  Is population control necessary?

4.  Sportmanship is essential in every competition.  What are your views?

5.  Time.

Section Two (30 marks)
You are advised to write between 250 and 350 words for this section.  You should read the information and plan your answer before beginning to write. 

There has been a lot of concernn with regards to environmental and green issues in your school recently.  As an advocate of environmental issues in your school, you have been asked by your Principal to speak to the green activists in your school one afternoon on attachent opportunities at two environmental volunteer organisations. 

The two organisations sent you the following details on their activities.

World Wilderness Foundation

• Participate in conservation projects on flora and fauna in Singapore and Southeast Asia.
• Administrative duties liek letter writing, press release drafting.
• Visiting tropical rainforests in Borneo to track and restore the orang utan habitat.
• Assist in education programmes by giving talks to kindergartens and primary schools.
• Communicating with transnational corporations (TNCs) to collaborate on conservation projects.

Environmental Champion Organisation

• Plan conservation projects on recycling in the neighbourhoods.
• Training school environmental ambassadors on how to set up environmental clubs.
• Beach cleaning duties every Sunday during the attachment.
• Attend a conservation conference in Chiang Mai if attachment duration coincides with conference dates.
• Network with other young Asian environmental champions in stepping up environmental efforts within the region.

Write a speech in which you explain to the green activists which of the two organisations you prefer and your reasons for your choice.  Try to persuade them to sign up fo rhte attachment and convince them that your choice is the organisation that offers the best all rounded experience. 

Set out your speech correctly in clear, accurate English, in a persuasive tone that will convince the students to play their part in climate change.
